“Hands Down - The Best Accommodation in Kailua” Reviewed December 20, 2011 We have been visiting the various Hawaiian islands for over 20 years. Approximately 15 years ago we discovered Lanikai Beach B&B on the windward coast of Oahu and it became our Hawaiian "home". Rick and Nini Maxey are the nicest people you could ever meet. We've watched their 2 college aged daughters grow up into lovely young women and now are enjoying seeing their 7 year old daughter in action. A lovely family always willing and anxious to help make your vacation extra special.

We have stayed in both the Garden Studio and the Tree House. Each has it's own personality and the descriptions and photos on the web site are accurate. In the last couple of years, we find ourselves partial to the Tree House mainly because it's roomier and suits our life style. We love all the windows which allow the tradewinds to blow through. Rick and Nini continually update and refurbish both units. This year, there are beautiful bamboo hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen, and dining area. Also new is a large flat screen TV on a beautiful table. Everything provided for your days on the beach and your days and nights in. It is very well appointed with high quality items. It is spotless. A welcome basket of local coffee, muffins and fruits is waiting for you along with juice and creamers in the refrigerator. You couldn't find a better location - the residential neighborhood of Lanikai and one of the most beautiful beaches just a few minutes walk from your door. Kailua town is a 5 minute car ride and offers all the shopping and restaurants to keep you occupied when not on the beach. We're counting the months until we return the our Hawaiian home next November!

Room Tip: The Garden Studio is very large and has a full kitchen. It also has a private patio and yard area. The Tree House is a second floor apartment with a kitchenette. Dear Rick & Nini and 2 cute dogs; Your treehouse is gorgeous. Not only have you supplied it with lovely furnishings and art, but it's super comfy! Lovely peaceful sleeps and great breezes through all the windows looking out at the trees and sky. We did look around but it only confirmed that this is the best beach right across the street.
The hike up to the bunkers was a great tip and the Thursday farmer's market is fantastic! We loved the banana apple fruit you left us. What a wonderful, relaxing time we've had!

We loved our time in the treehouse. It was so nice to have umbrellas, beach mats, beach chairs, beach towels, and coolers to use while we were here. All the comforts of home! And the pineapple, banana macadamia nut cake, coffee, etc... was such as nice welcoming treat.
The kids loved being so close to the beach.
We hope to come again and stay on a future trip to Oahu.

We LOVED staying at the Lanikai Tree House!! Thank kyou so much for your hospitality - especially for the fresh mangos from your tree! We've never tasted mangos so sweet & fresh. You have a beautiful place - we felt completely at home here. It was nice meeting Tom. Thank you for letting us greet and hang with Tom. We're so sorry about Grizzly - he was an excellent dog and we will continue to pray for peace and rest for Grizz.
Thank you also for letting us use your boogie boards and chairs, they sure cam handy! Preston loved boogie boarding at Kalama Beach.
This is our secont time here and we'll definately call you if we come back to Lanikai. This is our favorite spot by far.
We had an amaxing two weeks here! Thank kyou for all you to do make our stay so relaxing and enjoyable!

Mahalo very much for being such excellent and helpful hosts! Especially concerning our car problem rescues. We especially enjoyed the upper level apartment, being surrounded by our favorite flowers - Plumeria!
Your advice about dining was excellent. We were able to visit all our past favorite places again - often twice. Enjoyed the climb to the pill boxes (twice). This entire area is just wonderful. We will be anxious to return to this beautiful place soon.

April 2009 --- The five nights just flew by and tomorrow we leave for another adventure up north...we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - so relaxing and intimate - so different from the big hotel experience!

Lanikai Beach is indeed the quintessential idea of tropical paradise - especially the incredible color the the water and the fine, white sand...

We learned our way around the pretty quickly and enjoyed our daily excursions around O'ahu. My parents met on O'ahu during the war so I feel like I owe this island for my very existence...
